The Property of Hate Wiki

One of the many concepts who, in The World of Make Believe, is in fact a person. Originally referenced to by RGB[3] and Dial[4], and in the form of puns, Time was later introduced in Chapter 19: Inbetweens.

He is implied to have been a former partner/ally of Hate, but is not any longer[5]. The reason for this is currently unknown, but it is implied from the line referencing him forgiving her that she may have been the one at fault, or may have had to do with his difficulty in keeping secrets[6].

Personality[]

Little is known about Time's personality, other than what we're given by RGB and Dial. It is possible he may like puns, but it is also possible this is just RGB and Dial. His body language, and some of Mod's early sketches, indicate he may be nervous.

Appearance[]

Time is a lanky gray hare, patterned with black stripes going through circles on each of his sides and large ears. His head has two blue-flamed candles on top which resemble deer antlers, one of which has burned to a stump, but they grow and become larger the more we see of them. One of the candles has dripped its wax on the left side of their face, giving the side of his face the appearance of a skull. His left eye is missing, and it is implied Hate took it. Their stomach has a pattern resembling an hourglass.

Dialogue[]

His dialogue is a simple black box, with clock-hands serving the balloon tail. He rolls on top of a large white glowing ball, which may be the moon.

Trivia[]

  • It is entirely possible that Time being represented by a hare is another Alice in Wonderland reference, which would not be the first in the comic.
  • It is also possible that he may also be a reference to Moon Rabbit from Asian folklore, since his ball looks very lunar.
  • The fact he is a hare with deer-like antlers could be a reference to the Jackalope, although the species don't exactly match up.
  • Time is transgender, having been revealed as such in Page 390 and later officially confirmed by ModMad on Tumblr.[7] He uses he/him.
  • Time has the power to reach across pages, and will oft use it to his advantage. Seeing this power takes a bit of brains, or downloading the entire comic and looking through that. Some examples of this power can be seen from page 365 to 367, where his hand reaches across the page to give himself an item.
  • Time somewhat quotes the book Watership Down in page 385 when saying "When they catch us, they will kill us... but first- they must catch us." This is similar to what Lord Frith says to El-ahrairah, the Prince of the Rabbits.
